When planning a night out, particularly if it involves alcohol:-

• Plan how you are going to get home. Consider pre-booking a taxi. Townsville Taxi's provide transport from the City on a 24 hrs service. (Contact 131008).
  
• Do not get into a car with a drunk driver.
  
• Help friends stay safe. Take it in turns to stay sober. Keep an eye on the rest of the group.
  
• Have a soft drink or water in between alcoholic drinks.
  
• Drink spiking does happen even though you may not realise it or be able to feel or taste it.
  
• Drink spiking can lead to sexual assault. Do not accept drinks from strangers. Do not leave your drink unattended.
  
• When out and seated at a restaurant, theatre, or public transport, never leave a handbag or mobile phone etc on a vacant seat or on the floor.
